Lost in the endless fields of Normandy, Chartres is mostly famous for its magnificent gothic cathedral Notre-Dame de Chartres. It was built in an extremely short time - in only 31 year, and has become the first cathedral of Virgin Mary in France. Notre-Dame de Chartes is bigger and older than Notre-Dame de Paris and a lot of legends and mystries are related to it, most of which remain unsolved by scientists to this day. The whole town was destroyed during the Second World War, however the cathedral stayed untouched. It has been added to the UNESCO heritage list because of its unique architecture.
The tour duration is 4 hours.
